It is with profound sadness that we share the news that our much-loved President and dear friend, Barry Caulfield, passed away at Dénia Hospital. As many of you will know, Barry suffered a serious cardiac arrest in April, and we had all been hoping and praying for his recovery.

Barry was one of the founders of SCAN and sat at the helm for many years, dedicating so much of his life to the care and welfare of cats and dogs in our community.

Through his tireless work, Barry helped transform the lives of hundreds of animals. He also played a vital role in encouraging greater understanding and compassion among those he worked alongside, and the wider public, in the ongoing fight against animal cruelty.

He was a passionate and steadfast voice for animal welfare.

Barry will always be remembered at SCAN for his kindness, generosity, humour, resilience, and unwavering dedication to the animals in our care. It has been an honour and a privilege to have had him lead SCAN for so long, and his legacy will remain at the heart of all we do.

Mit tiefer Trauer teilen wir die Nachricht, dass unser sehr geliebter Präsident und lieber Freund Barry Caulfield im Hospital von Dénia verstorben ist. Wie viele von Ihnen wissen werden, erlitt Barry im April einen schweren Herzstillstand, und wir hatten alle auf seine Genesung gehofft und gebetet.

Barry war einer der Gründer von SCAN. Er war viele Jahre Präsident und widmete so viel seines Lebens der Pflege und dem Wohlergehen von Katzen und Hunden in unserer Gemeinschaft.

Durch seine unermüdliche Arbeit half Barry, das Leben hunderter von Tieren zu verändern. Er spielte auch eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Förderung von mehr Verständnis und Mitgefühl unter denjenigen, mit denen er zusammengearbeitet hat, und der breiteren Öffentlichkeit im laufenden Kampf gegen Tierquälerei

Er war eine leidenschaftliche und standhafte Stimme für den Tierschutz.

Barry wird bei SCAN immer für seine Freundlichkeit, Großzügigkeit, Humor, Widerstandsfähigkeit und seine unerschütterliche Hingabe für die Tiere in unserer Obhut in Erinnerung bleiben. Es war uns eine Ehre und ein Privileg, ihn so lange als Präsident des Tierheims SCAN zu haben. Sein Vermächtnis wird im Mittelpunkt all dessen bleiben, was wir tun.

Con profunda tristeza les comunicamos el fallecimiento de nuestro querido presidente y amigo, Barry Caulfield, en el Hospital de Dénia. Como muchos sabrán, Barry sufrió un paro cardíaco grave en abril, y todos habíamos estado deseando y rezando por su recuperación.

Barry fue uno de los fundadores de SCAN y estuvo al frente de la organización durante muchos años, dedicando gran parte de su vida al cuidado y bienestar de los perros y gatos de nuestra comunidad.

Gracias a su incansable labor, Barry ayudó a transformar la vida de cientos de animales. También desempeñó un papel fundamental al fomentar una mayor comprensión y compasión entre sus compañeros de trabajo y el público en general, en la lucha constante contra el maltrato animal.

Fue una voz apasionada e inquebrantable en defensa del bienestar animal.

En SCAN, siempre recordaremos a Barry por su bondad, generosidad, humor, resiliencia y dedicación inquebrantable a los animales a nuestro cargo. Ha sido un honor y un privilegio haber contado con su liderazgo en SCAN durante tanto tiempo, y su legado permanecerá en el corazón de todo lo que hacemos.
